The Abakwa Arts and Craft Fair was co-organised by the Lem-D Foundation and SAVVY Contemporary with the goal of honouring and celebrating the varied creative traditions across the north-west and south-west regions of Cameroon. We are working to ensure that our traditional creative practices can be promoted, taught, and sustained. Our aim is to facilitate inter-generational transmissions of skills and knowledges across communities and customs with the belief that this remembrance and transmission are key components of a decolonial project.
The Abakwa Arts and Craft fair also serves as a marketplace in which local artisans can promote their goods and thus contribute to stimulating and sustaining the local economy.
